Ann H. Coe, born July 26, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was the daughter of Albert S. and Helen (Funk)
Henry. She made her transition on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines.
Ann attended schools in Cedar Rapids, Shellsburg, Laurel, and Boone, Iowa and was privileged to have
studied under several religious leaders at the former Drake Divinity School in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ms. Coe was employed with a career that spanned 60 years, primarily working as an Executive Assistant.
Volunteer activities included school PTA’s, being an Adult Education Director, working with Brownie
troops, Bluebird groups, teaching both youth and adult Sunday School, and serving as a Senior Citizens’
Advocate on a Care Review Committee. Ann also worked as a tutor through United Way’s Grandparent
Program at Crestview Elementary School. She was involved in reviewing applicants for the Character
Counts program and enjoyed attending Common Thread meetings. While working full-time she was a
caregiver to her mother as her mother’s health declined. She enjoyed membership in the Parents
Without Partners and SOS Committee, where she served as Program Director. She had been a member
of the Des Moines Audubon Society, the Iowa Genealogical Society, and the Presbyterian Church, USA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Wallace Henry; sister, Marilyn (Henry) Martin;
half-sister, Dawn Mellis; son-in-law, Larry Forsyth; and precious 4-footed friends: Skipper, Sandy, Misty,
and Pete. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Forsyth; grandson, Daniel Forsyth; and her beloved,
Michael Bockert.
Ann’s remains were cremated. A Family interment will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Norwalk Christian Church (701 Main St. Norwalk, IA 50211) with a visitation taking place one hour prior begining at 9:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at www.youtube.com\norwalkcc1 <http://www.youtube.com\norwalkcc1> or www.facebook.com\norwalkcc\live <http://www.facebook.com\norwalkcc\live>. Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League, the Salvation Army, and/or Suncrest Hospice.
