Ann Spooner, 91, Des Moines, joined the company of saints on May 15, 2015. Born on March 31, 1924 in Detroit, Mich., she married David Spooner on Jan. 5, 1944. They settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where they raised eight children prior to moving to Des Moines in 1982. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, David and Brother, Bill. She is survived by eight children: Ann (Jack), Mark (Robbie), David, Mary (Steve) Steven, Karen (Tom) Christine, and Lisa (Bill); 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She will be remembered by many as a generous host, who took great joy in welcoming family and friends to her home. An avid bridge player, Ann took up watercolor painting late in her life and created many beautiful works of art that are cherished by family and friends. Her Catholic faith was the source of strength and comfort through to the end. Despite a prolonged and painful struggle, visitors could always count on her wisdom, wit and tender heart. Visitation will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Thursday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00, and a memorial mass on Friday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
