Anna Nguyen

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. She was born Anna Dieu Nguyen, but also went by mẹ and bà ngoại. Bà ngoại loved to love on people unconditionally and because of that, everyone adored her just as much. She has a big family and loved everyone and everything, touching all those who crossed her path.

Anna was born on April 23th, 1944 in Xã Tráng Liệt, Huyện Bình Giang, Tỉnh Hải Dương, Vietnam. She came to America with her family over 31 years ago on December 16, 1991. And for over 60 years, has dedicated her life to being an amazing mother to everyone around her. Bà ngoại always put her family first and herself last, always worried about being a burden to her loved ones.

She was a tiny person with a big personality - stubborn, ambitious, and patient, but had such a big heart. Bà ngoại had a great smile, always laughing, and was always very cheerful. Her hands were rarely still as she was constantly cooking, gardening, sewing, drawing, and doing everything she loved until the end. She shared her love for food with us and brought us all together.

She was a strong woman of faith and regularly attended mass. She was a big contributor to charity and helped those who were less fortunate. You would often find her on the couch reading her little prayer book or watching sermons on her iPad.

She patiently waited for God’s welcoming arms, and up until her passing, she stubbornly did as she pleased. She did not let any of her illnesses and physical limitations affect who she was, what she loved, and what she did. And every day she would ask her loved ones how they were doing and what they were up to. And to that, she will forever be missed and appreciated.

Anna peacefully passed away on August 12th, 2023 at 8:56 AM surrounded by all of her loved ones. Visitation will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Mass will be held at the Basilica of Saint John on Friday, August 18th, 2023 at 12:00pm.
