Annetta Marie Johnson

Annetta Johnson, 70 of Des Moines, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church in Adel with family greeting friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Swede Valley Cemetery near Ogden. Family will greet friends Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Annetta was born on March 13, 1947 in Boone, Iowa to Roland and Frances Peterson and moved to Des Moines, where she grew up. She graduated from East High School in 1965 and attended Grandview University where she earned her Associates Degree. She graduated from Drake with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Annetta briefly taught until she started working for Philip Johnson Florist as a designer and co-owner. In 1970, Annetta married Mark Johnson and they raised three children. They later divorced. Annetta enjoyed wildlife and birds, was an avid crafter, enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family and laughing with her grandchildren. Annetta is survived by her children, Aaron (Krista) of Minneapolis, Adam (Jennifer) of Windsor Heights and Amanda (Sean Flynn) of Chicago; grandchildren, Hazel and Elsa; siblings, Sandra (Bob) Vignaroli, Nancy (Tony) Kouri and Karla (Jim) McDowell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents and sister, Janann. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kavanagh House. Online condolences may be left on this site.
