Annette Chovanic, 83, of Winterset died April 13, 2019 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A memorial gathering with family present will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with a prayer service to immediately follow beginning at 7:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences can be left at ochiltree.com. Jessie Annette Chovanic, daughter of Donald and Madge (Thomas) Stever, was born October 30, 1935 in Madison County, Iowa. She attended school in the Dexter area and graduated from Greenfield High School. She worked at Bonham Grocery in Macksburg before her marriage. Annette worked as a dispatcher and jailer for the Madison County Sheriff/ Winterset Police for over 30 years. She later worked at Amoco Motor Club for 10 years before retiring. Annette had a passion for genealogy and was a member of the Genealogy Society. She enjoyed quilting and supporting her granddaughter and great grandchildren in all of their activities. Annette was also a talented baker, who was known for making ornate wedding cakes. Above all else, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who cherished nothing more than spending time with the ones she loved. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Chovanic of Winterset; granddaughter, Renee Cellan of Winterset; two great grandchildren, Zachary and Shayla Baker; siblings, Loretta Grasty of Winterset, Janice Creswell of Earlham, and Steve (Barbara) Stever of Woodburn, OR; a special great nephew, Matt Grasty; sister-in-law, Linda Stever; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald Stever; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Grasty and Jim Creswell.
