Arnold Slaughter, age 88 of Bouton, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Perry. Everyone is required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending the funeral service. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at Des Moines, IA. Memorials will be given to the First Christian Church, Perry, IA or Mercy Hospice, Johnston, IA and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Arnold Dean Slaughter was born on June 17, 1932 at Des Moines, IA to Charles Scott Sr. and Florence Irene (Bacon) Slaughter. He attended the Des Moines Technical High School. He served in the United States Army from July 21, 1952 to April 20, 1954 in Korea. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Houseman at Des Moines, IA on October 27, 1951. He worked for the Rock Island Trucking and retired as a truck driver for Cadco/Triple F. He was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion. He enjoyed playing music and singing with Arnold Slaughter and the Country 3 Band, collecting old model cars and coin collecting. In death he rejoins his wife Mary Ann, parents Charles Slaughter Sr. and Irene King and a brother, Charles Scott Jr. Left to cherish Arnolds memory are his children, Bob Slaughter, Bouton, IA and Lorrie (Rod) Trogdon, Clive, IA, grandchildren, Jason (Paula) Slaughter, Indianola, IA, Christina (Justin) Boat, West Des Moines, IA, Jessica (Jon) Maifield, Ankeny, IA, Aaron Slaughter, St. Paul, MN, Bryan (Alicia) Trogdon, West Des Moines, IA, and Travis Slaughter, Mahtomedi, MN, great grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor, Samantha, Makayla, Kaylee, Isaiah, Cheyenne, Gwennyth, Elizabeth, Kaylee S., Cadence, Brittany, Peyton, Carter and Adeline, God children, Lynda Meadows, Dana Meadows and Charlotte Meadows Ayers, a sister Evelyn Street, Waukee, IA and many nieces and nephews.
