August Henry Pfaff

August Henry (Gus) Pfaff, Jr., 91, of Windsor Heights, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2016 at Senior Suites in Urbandale, Iowa. Gus was born on January 11, 1925 to parents August and Ina Pfaff of Council Bluffs. Gus was a WWII veteran, serving on the LST 24, in the United States Coast Guard. He married Rosetta Ann Hubbard, the love of his life, on June 23, 1951. Together they raised three children. Gus was retired from Northwestern Bell where he worked for 35 years. Gus is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosetta; sons, Dan (Kris) of Des Moines, Dr. Ken (Karla) of Grimes; daughter, Jenifer (Paul) Holtz of Solon; grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Ryan, Kelli, Adam, Lindsay, Chace, Nicole, Kara, Abby; 15 great grandchildren and one great grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ina; sister, Rosemary Williams and her husband, Jack. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road with a funeral mass to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Beverly Farm Foundation of Godfrey, Illinois. A special thank you to Senior Suites and Hospice of Central Iowa for the wonderful care they provided. There are no words to explain what a caring and humble man Gus was. A true gentleman who will forever hold a place in our hearts and will never be forgotten. Heaven has gained an amazing angel.
