Avon Olson

Avon Olson got her wings and went to walk with the angels on Saturday, October 22, 2022. She was 88 years old.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 7, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with a visitation held two hours prior, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

Betty Avon Lund was born in Rake, Iowa on January 5, 1934, the daughter of Bert and Abbie (Rake) Lund. She graduated from Rake High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart, Darvin Olson, on October 11, 1952. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Avon loved gardening, going to casinos and playing bingo. She will be remembered for her meticulous housekeeping, her delicious desserts and family dinners. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Darvin; sons, Kevin (Michelle), Todd (Tracy); daughter, Kristi Mease; and daughter-in-law, Marty Olson; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Avon was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Abbie Lund; her son, Terry Olson; great-great-grandson, Conner Norris; brothers, Harvey, Wally, Gerald and Roy; and sister, Ramona Ramsey.
