Barbara Cooper Schuck

December 9, 1921 — August 23, 2007

Barbara went home to the Lord this day, Thursday, August 23, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. She was 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and brothers and sisters. Barbara Agnes Cooper Schuck was born December 9, 1921 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, to Frederick and Melda (Oliver) Cooper. She graduated from Mt. Upton School in New York, having been active in sports, especially basketball. She served proudly in the US Army during WWII from February 1943 to May 1945. She married William Daniel Schuck on Aug 16, 1947 in Norwich, New York and was happily married until his death in June 2000. She worked at Simmonds Precision for 32 years, while there she made electronic components for F16 Fighter Planes. She retired in August 1984. Barbara was a member of the Elks Club and participated in the Elks bowling team with her daughters. She loved to garden and enjoyed knitting, especially sweaters. Visitation: She is survived by her three daughters, of whom she was extremely proud; Sandi Weishaupt and husband, Paul of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Sharon Gray and husband, Bob of West Des Moines; and Sue Pasterkiewicz and husband, Jerry of Woodbridge, Virginia; her five grandchildren whom she loved very much and were the light of her life, James Hemstrought, Christine Gray, Melissa Pasterkiewicz, Robert Gray Jr., and Jonathan Gray; her sister, Jean Lingenfelter; and several nieces and nephews. Service: For the past several years, Barbara resided at the Winterset Care Center North where she was affectionately known as ‘Barbie’. She was one of their constant lights and will be sorely missed. We will miss her! Memorial: Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice of Winterset and/or the Winterset Care Center North.
