Barbara Jean Youngkin

Barbara J. Youngkin, 69, passed away on June 3, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1954 to Elzy and Frances “Watters” Youngkin in Des Moines, Iowa. She dedicated her career to the City of Des Moines as a Secretary.

Barb’s fascination with miniatures began at a young age. She had an uncanny ability to find beauty in the intricate details of small-scale objects. Her collection of miniatures, especially those featuring animals, was a testament to her keen eye and appreciation for the delicate craftsmanship of each figurine.

Barb was an avid reader, always seeking new stories and authors to explore. Among the many authors she cherished, Debbie McComber’s novels held a significant influence on her life. She had an immense collection of her books which stood as a testament to her love and admiration for the author’s stories.

However, it was Barb’s sense of humor that set her apart. She possessed an uncanny ability to find joy and laughter in every situation, brightening the lives of those around her.

She is preceded in death by her sister Linda Youngkin.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8th, 2023 from 4:00-5:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 5:00 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. Burial will be at a later date.
