Barbara L. Young, 78, of Winterset, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Winterset Care Center North. A visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 21 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where her family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church with burial immediately following in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. Barbara was born in Earlham, Iowa on August 1, 1934 to Edwin and Winona (McCain) Fuller. Her marriage to Donald M. Young took place on August 31, 1952 in Madison County at Barbara’s parents’ home. Barbara was a lifelong area resident and was a farmwife and homemaker. Barbara was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Red Hat Club and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also active in the Earlham and Winterset Saddle Clubs, loving horses and her dogs. She loved tending to her flowers and birds. All this said, Barbara loved nothing more than her family and cherished any times she could spend with them. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kenneth Young of Marshalltown, Denise Kirkland and husband, Ronald of Macksburg, Vikki Weeks and husband, Dale of Winterset, Bryan Young and wife, Jacque of Des Moines, and Barbi Kischer and husband, Brian of Murray; a brother, LeRoy Fuller and wife, Maxine of Earlham; eleven grandchildren, Kendra Young; Kelsie Young; Daniel Kirkland and wife, Heidi; Matthew Kirkland and wife, Sarah; James Weeks and wife, Shelly; Dusty Weeks and wife, Amanda; Gregory Cook and wife, Stacy; Jessica Cornelison and husband, Josh; Nicole Means and husband, Zach; Brooke Lampman and husband, Robert; and Michelle Young; and 14 great-grandchildren, Samuel and Brody Kirkland; Leo and Worth Kirkland; Austin, Jackson and Parker Means; Alaiyah and Juliett Lampman; Emma and Sydney Cook and Chaz, Gavin and Chloe Cornelison. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Josh Cook.
