Barbara Marie Boatwright, 89, died peacefully at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center, her home for more than three years, on March 28th, 2017. A lifelong resident of Des Moines, she and Daniel, her spouse of 58 years, raised four children. In addition to those stand-alone accomplishments, she also had a long career, of which she was very proud, at NW Bell Telephone Co. She also made a great pie, but if you wanted a piece, it was best not to ask what kind it was first. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; daughter, Nancy Windsor; grandson, Nicholas Windsor; and brother, Richard Hearn. She is survived by sons, Stephen (Marcia), and Bill; daughter, Mary (Douglas, *the favorite, but the children aren't really sore about that or anything *); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Ludwig. Beloved by all who knew her for her kind and cheerful Irish spirit; feared by many for her killer instincts in Bridge and Rummikub; adored by family and all lucky enough to call her friend for...a thousand reasons. She will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials requested to the Alzheimers Association of Greater Iowa, or the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center.
