Barbara Eve Watkins

Barbara Eve Watkins, Age 66, of St. Charles, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Barbara was born on May 31st, 1958, the daughter of Walter Richard and Mary Ellen Boatwright in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in and around Madison county, graduating from Winterset High School in 1976.

A caregiver by nature, she worked as a home aid for approximately 40 years before retiring in 2022. She enjoyed the outdoors and had a wild spirit. She loved to go camping and fishing and would often find a frog or two along the way. Known for her strong will and free spirit, she had a sense of independence about her. She valued her friends and family the most.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Kelly Boatwright; and nephew J.D. McVey

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Betty McGaffey, brother Matt (Beth) Boatwright, children: Erick Dowler, Duke Dowler , Austin Watkins (Christian) , and Anthony Watkins ; grandchildren: Jade, Sofia, Vincent, Serenity, and Owen along with many extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place & celebration of life is planned for May 11th, 2025 at 11:30 at the Backbone Shelter in Pammel State Park, with a potluck to follow.
