Rebecca (Becky) Sue Miller, born on November 20, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on December 19, 2024, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Becky was a beloved pet owner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose warmth and smile touched the lives of everyone she met.
Her passion for life was evident in everything she did—from her love of a hard day's work to her dedication to service for those around her. She had an innate talent for making connections with people and creating lasting memories through shared experiences and humor. She could relate to just about anyone.
Family and her pets meant the world to Becky. She took great pride in working with her hands to tackle any home improvement project from drywall to plumbing to carpentry and she especially loved working with and restoring wood furniture/floors. She enjoyed nurturing and spoiling her many dogs and cats over the years. Her unwavering support to her family made a profound impact on those around her; she always knew how to lend an ear or offer words of encouragement when they were needed most.
In addition to being devoted to family and friends, Becky had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors whether it was fishing, camping or taking long walks through the woods, she found solace outdoors spending time with all God’s creatures.
As we remember Rebecca Sue Miller today—her spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts. We celebrate not only the years we shared but also the lessons learned from this remarkable woman: love fiercely, don’t take life too seriously, and embrace each day with gratitude.
She is survived by her brother Mike (Kim) Rochholz of Adair, Ia; sister Gerry (Sammy) Armstrong of Corning, Ia; sister Pat Smith of Martensdale, Ia; sister Kim Brokaw (Dave Eastman) of Martensdale, Ia; brother Glenn (Amy Schovanec) Rochholz of Council Bluffs, Ia; and 2 daughters Hollie (Marcus) Patten of Orient, Ia and Heather (Ricky) Dunmire of Dexter Ia; and numerous family members who will carry forward her legacy of compassion and joy into their own lives. Among those that she will be joining in heaven are her parents (Raymond & Evelyn Rochholz); her brother (John Rochholz); her daughter (Hillary Nelson); and many other friends and loved ones.
A celebration of life honoring Becky will be held in the spring along with interment of her cremains next to her beloved daughter in the Winterset Cemetery, where friends are invited to share stories celebrating this extraordinary woman’s journey through life filled with love and laughter—until we meet again.
