Betty Berry, 77, of Winterset, died Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A private family burial will be held in the Winterset Cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, at the VFW Hall in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Betty Jean Lehman, daughter of Ernest and Stella (Smith) Lehman, was born May 27, 1939 in Creston, Iowa. She attended the Winterset Schools and graduated from Winterset High in 1957. She was united in marriage to Larry Berry in 1958, and three sons were born to this union. Betty was a homemaker and also worked for Clark TV in Winterset for over 10 years. She enjoyed playing pool and participating in pool league and was also a talented cribbage player. Betty loved being outside; especially to camp, boat and fish. She also liked to write poetry and paint. Betty was very proud of her Native American Heritage. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Craig (Barbara) Berry of Winterset; Jim Berry of Winterset; Brad (Tammy) Berry of Greenfield; eight grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Berry; Justin (Stephanie) Berry; Mariah Berry; Tyler Berry; Brielle Berry; Avaisha (Clint) Turner; Chase Berry; Logan Berry; 10 great grandchildren (two more on the way); siblings, Jenny Shoning of Des Moines; Joanne Christensen of Winterset; Jack (Linda) Lehman of Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Larry Berry and Alan Doyle; and brother, Ralph Lehman.
