Betty Brezovan

Betty was born in Messena, Iowa on October 13, 1947 to Bertha and Lloyd Casteel. She passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023 at The Life Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; John, along with parents, siblings and other family members.

Betty enjoyed her role as Executive Administrative Assistant at Deloitte for over forty years, and was respected by both partners and clients. She met her best friend, Wendy Scharlau, during her time there and retired in 2012.

After retiring, Betty liked spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed laying out in the sun, walking, crossword puzzles and attending her family luncheons. She was an excellent cook, who made arguably one of the best cheesecakes you’ve ever had. She could also make a mean pan of lasagna! Betty adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews very much. Her favorite restaurants were Maxie’s Supper Club and The Machine Shed where she loved visiting with her favorite servers.

She will be missed dearly and our family finds peace knowing she and John are reunited, drinking coffee, listening to Carrie Underwood and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes together in Heaven.

Betty is survived by her two daughters; Angela (Todd) Linden and Cynthia (Robert Applegate) Brezovan, her grandchildren; Katie (JC) Petermeier, JD (Sarah) Goode, Jim (Kelcie Howard) Goode, Jacob Garcia and Emily Garcia, her great-grandchildren; Alivia, Sawyer, Grayson and Kila, and siblings; Delores Parvi, Carolyn Postlethwaite, Lois McLaren, Roger (Debb) Casteel and Janice (Jack) Mustapha.
