Betty J. Corbin, 79, of Winterset died Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28th at the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames. Memorials will be designated at a later date. Betty J. Litchfield was born May 9, 1933 in Ames, Iowa; the daughter of Commodore and Lucille (Rutter) Litchfield. She graduated from Ames High School and attended Iowa State University. She later married Virgil R. Corbin on January 30, 1955 in Nevada, Iowa. They have resided in the Winterset area since 1967. She retired from the US Postal Service in 1992, after 27 ½ years. Betty enjoyed traveling and reading. She also liked playing the slot machines at casinos. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband, Virgil; her children, Cherene Taylor, Doreen “Dodie” Caudle (Mike), and Norine “Katie” Corbin (Kevan); siblings, Tunney Litchfield (Peggy), George Litchfield (Shirley), Jack Litchfield, Eleanor Coleman (Ronald), Donald Litchfield, and Eveline Copenhaven (Jerry); five grandchildren, Juliaray “Jay” Corbin, Nikki Stone, Allysa Ray Taylor, Commodore “CC” Taylor, and Cameron “CJ” Caudle; four great-grandchildren, Emma Jean Piper, Jeremiah Piper, Elyzabith Piper, and Rhea Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deanna Lynn Corbin; a granddaughter, Patricia Taylor; siblings, Fred Litchfield, Lucille Keaton, Kathy Litchfield, Tiny Gail Litchfield, Viola Litchfield; and half-brother, Bobby Allen.
