Her marriage to Delbert Eli Howell took place on September 4, 1955 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. During her working career, she also was employed at Ben Franklin and Allgeyer Grocery in Winterset. She also worked for Look Magazine in Des Moines, Custom Printing in De Soto and Dial Finance which eventually became Wells Fargo in Des Moines where she retired from in the late 1980’s. She was a founding member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was an active member of many years. She and her husband enjoyed tending to their acreage and she was a great cook and baker who made the best apple pies. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than any time spent with her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Connie (Jim) Ascione; Debbie (Tom) Zacharias both of Winterset; three grandchildren, Kristin (Joel) Knutson; Phillip (Stacy) Zacharias; Nicole (Dan) Boyken and six great grandchildren, Skyler and Jaxson Knutson; Eli, Ian, and Otto Zacharias and Ethan Boyken. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delbert who died July 29, 1999; her sister, Mary Beard and her brother, Duane Beedle.
