Beverly Ann Cline was born in Redfield, Iowa on July 26, 1933, the daughter of Dr. Elmer and Verle (Bennett) Keller. She was a 1951 graduate of Adel High School. While in High School, she worked at FW Woodwards Dry Goods store and later began working in the Dallas County Treasurer’s office. She was married to Robert Crase on December 6, 1953 and had 3 children, Dennis, Barbara and Kathy, and was later divorced.
While working at the county ASCS office in Winterset, Beverly met the love of her life, Gail Cline and married on August 7, 1965. They had a long and happy life together and shared many memories.
Beverly worked for Union State Bank for many years and loved working with the public. Beverly was a member of the Heritage Quilters, Madison County Historical Society, Genealogical Society, Winterset Art Center, Friends of the Library, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and lifetime member of the Methodist Church – as a youth and young adult in Adel and in Winterset for over 60 years. Beverly was a proud supporter of the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival and volunteered her time in numerous ways.
Beverly loved flower and vegetable gardening, baking and was well known for her angel food cakes, passing down her tips to her granddaughter and great granddaughter. She was well known for her Gooseberry pies that she baked for the VFW booth at the County Fair or Fundraisers. She also loved a good cookie! Chocolate chip was one of her favorites. However, her favorite thing was ice cream! There was always room for ice cream, chocolate being her favorite. She was a gentle, kind and caring wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, daughter, sister and friend.
Beverly is survived by her three children, Denny (Cindy) Crase of Winterset, Barbara (Loren) Nihart of Grain Valley, MO, and Kathy (Bob) Crowdes of Ankeny; brother, Larry (Mark) of Washington DC; 6 grandchildren, BJ (Kim Alliss) Crase, Tassie (Elliot) Corwin, Jacquelyn (Ryan) Ritter, RuthAnn (Jeremy) Kempker, Josiah (Nicole) Nihart, Joe (Kelsey) Crowdes; and 21 great grandchildren, Tinlee Alliss, Emerson and Walker Crase; Briley and Kimber Corwin; Kennedy, Olivia and Hannah Ritter; Emma, Harrison, Harlen and Matthew Kempker; Easton, Bowen, Henry, Oakley and Theron Nihart; and Jackson, Finn, Archer and Charlie Crowdes.
