Bill Woodfin

November 23, 1944 — March 9, 2023

On Thursday, March 9, 2023, our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bill Woodfin, passed away at the age of 78.

Bill was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on November 23, 1944, to BF and Ruby Sanders Woodfin. He graduated high school in 1963 from Central High School in San Angelo, Texas. He also graduated from the University of Hard Knocks in the West Texas Oil Fields.

Bill began his oil career working for his uncle Raymond Hawkins in Albany, Texas. For ten years he went on to work for Pool Company in San Angelo, Perryton, McCamey, and Big Lake, Texas. For the next 30 years, he worked for an independent oil company, BTA Oil Producers, as a production foreman. He drove over 100,000 miles a year working all over West Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. He started his own consulting firm, B&P Consulting and retired in 2013.

Bill made many good friends in his working years including Royce and Cheryl Boyce, Jerry Chick, Phil Shivers, and Joe and Nancy Jackson. He loved his dear friends Toni and Glen Kemp from Christoval, Texas. Throughout his life, he treasured his friendship with Dod Seaman, Jerry Spencer, and Vic Pasley.

Bill spent many of his free hours fishing on Lake Amistad and golfing with friends at the Big Lake Country Club, always laughing that there wasn’t a lake anywhere around the country club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family including his six grandchildren, who are far above average.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patria Powell Woodfin; his son, Dr. Grant Woodfin and wife Tracye and grandson Ethan of Richmond, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his beautiful grandson, Caleb Woodfin. He is also survived by his daughter Kindra and husband Mike who have four children, Madelyn, Nathan, Piper, and Sophie Barten of Urbandale, Iowa. He is also survived by his brother Steve and wife Mary Woodfin of Campbell, Texas; and sisters Lanelta Sue Botkin and Sandy Heath of San Angelo, Texas.

Bill will be remembered for his generous heart, his big laugh, and his early rough and tumble days. We already dearly miss him. May the merciful love of Jesus Christ be with him always.
