Bob Gibbons

October 31, 1929 — July 24, 2019

Robert William Gibbons was born October 31, 1929 to Zora (Johnson) and Truman Gibbons at home in Madison County. He graduated from Murray Community School. He married Barbara (Bobbi) McConnell March 6, 1950 in Winterset. To this union were born 3 sons. Bob was very active in both his children's and his grandchildren's lives. Bob and Bobbi lived in rural Madison County for most of their lives and then moved a mile down the road to Clarke County. Bob was a farmer, and he raised turkeys, pigs, cattle, and later kittens. He also farmed corn, beans, and hay. Bob loved taking his grandchildren on rides to see his animals. He had a quick smile, ornery jokes, and a twinkle in his eye. Whenever the work was done, Bob also loved playing penny slots at the casino. Bob lived the last couple of years at West Bridge where he was well taken care of, and he entertained the nurses. Bob passed away July 24 at West Bridge. Bob is survived by his wife, Bobbi; sons, Dennis & wife Debbie, David & wife Jacki, and Daniel & wife Jean; grandchildren, Jessica Gibbons (Warren Booton), Jennie (Jeremy) Wingler, Aaron (Amber) Gibbons, Brenda (Steve) Gehling, Angee (Mike) Booth, David (Kayleen) Gibbons, Jr., Chris (Tracy) Gibbons, and Michelle (Troy) White. He also had 12 great-children and 1 great-great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive him. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne, his sister Velma, and a grandson, Jeremy. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, August 3 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial of his cremains will be in the Lorimor Cemetery at a later date. Bob will be missed by all of his friends and family.
