Bonnie Johnson Moore

Bonnie Johnson Moore, the first daughter and second child of six, born to William and Dorothy Johnson, was born April 9, 1955 in Winterset, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm between St. Charles and Winterset. While growing up, she enjoyed the daily life on the farm including working in the vegetable garden and dressing chickens. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1973. On Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010, with David at her side, Bonnie died peacefully following a long struggle from Wegeners, an auto-immune disease. She lived 54 years, 9 months and 17 days. Preceding her in death was her father, William Johnson, and recently a niece, Krista Hamilton. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, David Moore of Boone, IA; her mother, Dorothy Johnson of Winterset; her siblings and in-laws, Ben Johnson (Teri) of Winterset, Susan Hamilton (Ed) of Peru, Randal Johnson (Judy) of Winterset, Gloria Stadtlander (Kip) of Van Meter, and Sandy Johnson of Winterset; her father and mother-in-law, Ernest Moore, Jr. and Shirley of Des Moines; and a brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Michelle Moore of Des Moines; and a host of many nieces and nephews. Following high school, she moved to Des Moines and started working for Iowa Window, now known as Marsden Building Maintenance, where she was a Supervisor until her retirement in October 2008. She met her husband of 20 years, David Moore, at her job. They were married August 3, 1990 in Boone, Iowa and made their home there. Bonnie was an avid fishing enthusiast and liked being outdoors. She also enjoyed antiques and collecting Shawnee Ceramics. Bonnie had a zest for life and loved being with her husband, family and friends. Bonnie enjoyed time spent with her dogs, Sadie and Abby.
