Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements for Boyd Hogge, 70 of JAMAICA. Boyd died Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Panora Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with burial in Richland Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 1:00 p.m. and his family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Boyd is survived by his brothers Jim Hogge of Jamaica, Roy Hogge of Hopkins, MN, sisters Alice Brattmiller of Ayrshire, IA; Marjorie Anderson of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Marcella Fairchild, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and sister-in-law Norma Hogge of Bagley. Memorials in Boyd's name may be left at the funeral home. Boyd Gale Hogge, son of Edward Samuel Hogge and Nellie Opal Mitchell Hogge, was born January 9, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa, and died August 26, 2011 at Panora Nursing and Rehab in Panora, Iowa at the age of 70. Boyd graduated from Jamaica Consolidated School in May of 1958. Boyd was a lifelong Jamaica resident and farmer. He loved his life on the farm and raising livestock up until recently. Boyd's dogs, cats, and cattle were a very important part of his life. He also enjoyed going to farm sales, mushroom hunting, his potbellied pig and billy goat. Boyd married Mary Flower Rose on December 1, 1979. He welcomed Mary's children Julie and Bob Rose and Shellie Joiner into his life. Boyd and Mary were later divorced. Boyd was a part of a loving family of brothers and sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Jim Hogge and wife Marie of Jamaica, Iowa and Roy Hogge and wife Sandra of Hopkins, Minnesota; sisters Alice Brattmiller and husband Fred of Ayrshire, Iowa, Marjorie Anderson and husband Ray of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and Marcella Fairchild and husband Lou of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law Norma Hogge of Bagley, Iowa; Aunt Aileen Gerdes of Clinton, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews Larry and George Crouch, Shirley Chapman, Alvin Hogge, Karen Smith, Janet Wackerbarth, Ronald Brattmiller, Karen Klinkefus, Sharon Chism, Loren and Doyle Anderson, Teresa Stephens, Susan and Tony Hogge, Jim Smith, and Judy Stoker, other relatives and friends. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother George Albert Hogge, brother Dale Hogge, sister Dorothy Crouch Brandt, sister-in-law Nona Hogge, and niece Donna Crouch Majors.
