Brad E. Lehman was born to Oliver and Miriam (Linder) Lehman on September 25, 1942, in Rockford, Illinois. He was raised and educated in the area graduating from East High School. Following his primary education, Brad continued his studies at Drake University. He worked for Donald Corporation as a sales representative for 25 years. He then took on the role of sales manager with AC Supply.
On August 3, 1963, Brad and Linda Margaret McLeod were united in marriage in Rockford, Illinois. Together the two would settle down in West Des Moines, Iowa to raise their two daughters. He was an athlete throughout his life. In his early years, he was an exceptional baseball player among many other sports. He was also an avid fisherman, following in his father’s footsteps. As time went on, he learned the game of golf and quickly became addicted to the game. Again, he was exceptional. He was a long time member of the Des Moines Golf and Country Club, earning various accolades throughout his golf career. Throughout his time at the club, he met many lifelong friends and enjoyed playing cards with his golfing buddies. In his later years, time on the course was traded in for time following his grandsons to their many sporting events, one of which was golf. Because of his love for fishing and golf, he taught these skills with great patience to his daughters and grandchildren.
Brad was an extremely thoughtful man and loved nothing more than spending time with family. He often surprised Linda with flowers, surprise birthday parties, and trips to Vegas and Hawaii. Together, they were the best of friends; they did everything together. They loved spending the winter months in their Florida condo, playing golf in husband and wife tournaments, going out for dinner and exploring the highways with road trips. One of his favorite family traditions was a yearly trip to Lake Chetek in Wisconsin where extended family members would come together for fishing and family time. He truly was the “father of Christmas” as this was his favorite time of the year. He would spend countless hours putting lights up, decorating multiple christmas trees, and shopping.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Miriam Lehman. His beloved dogs Brandy and Sir Regionald, and his grandpuppies, Cody, Bogey and Rooney.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Lehman; sister Barb (Mike) Pearce, daughters,Shelly (Nick) Fischer and Mindy (Barry) Sebastian; 5 Grandchildren, Kenzie and Lauren Fischer, Maddie, Cooper, and Bennett Sebastian; nieces Megan Johnson, Julie Doremire and nephews Jason Pearce, Scott McLeod , Grandpuppies, Winnie and Louie.
