Brett Anderson

Brett Ivan Anderson was born July 19, 1985 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roger Anderson and Catherine 'Cathy' Meyer. He was a 2003 graduate of Winterset High School; in 2007 he earned his BA in Athletic Training from Central College in Pella, IA, and in 2009 received his Masters Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Following college he worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Track and Field at Wichita State University in Wichita. Memorial donations in Brett's name may be directed to the Winterset Area Soccer Club (WASC)- P.O. Box 43, Winterset, Iowa 50273 Brett enjoyed all sports; however, soccer was his true passion. He played soccer from kindergarten through college. He also enjoyed reading, drawing, and music, especially playing the guitar. Brett was a caring and energetic individual who valued his relationships with his family and friends. He also loved dogs, his and any others. Brett is survived by his mother, Cathy Simon and her husband, Randy of Winterset; his father, Roger Anderson and his wife, Cindy of Van Meter; two brothers, Nathan Simon (wife, Jennifer) of Winterset, and Trevor Simon (wife, Sarah) of Winterset; a sister, Becky Anderson of Van Meter; two step-brothers, Trenton Briney of Van Meter, Derrick Briney of Overland Park, KS; a step-sister, Erin Briney of Adel; grandparents, Earl and Ardis Anderson of West Des Moines; Ron Meyer of Postville and Susan (husband, Ken) Anderson of Bloomington, MN; step-grandparents, Arnold and Priscilla Jensen of Greenfield and Robert Simon of Winterset; three nieces and nephews, MaTayla, Ethan, and Jillian Simon and Lydia Crittenden; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a maternal step-grandmother, Elizabeth Simon.
