Brian Gerard Kirvin

Brian Gerard Kirvin, 56, died on July 8, 2015, surrounded by his wife and daughter. Brian was born on March 23, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of John and Honora Kirvin. Brian was a graduate of Dowling Catholic High School and worked as a bricklayer. A lifelong Cubs fan, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and his many devoted friends and family, but his wife of 30 years, Alene, and daughter, Hannah Michelle were his delight. Known for his athleticism, loyalty and keen wit, Brian will be missed by all as to know him was to love him. The family would like to thank Brians special friends who spent countless hours at his side. Brian is survived by his wife, Alene (Phillips) Kirvin; his daughter, Hannah Michelle; his mother, Honora Kirvin; his sisters, Cecelia Kirvin, Deanna Kirvin, Cynthia Renner (Biff), Patricia Umthun (Greg); and his brother, Tom Kirvin (Connie). Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John, and sister, Kathleen. The family will receive friends and visitors at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home on Friday, July 10th from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresas Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50311, with inurnment to follow at a later date at St. Johns Cemetery in Cumming, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
