Candace “Candi” Joan Daugherty was born March 31, 1953 in Denison, IA the daughter of Charles and Anna Mae (Hoffard) Shives. She grew up in Denison, graduated from Denison High School in 1971, and went on to business college.
Candi married Duane Tigges in 1972 and they had two children, Brian and Mike. They later divorced in 1981. She married Steve Daugherty on December 30, 1988, who had four children of his own, Scott, Stacie, Jack, and Dustin. Together, Steve and Candi had a well-blended family of 6.
Through her years, Candi worked for Target, owned/operated her own ceramics shop, and managed Rendezvous Lounge. She enjoyed camping, bowling, traveling, quilting, playing cards, going to garage sales, and the time spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed going to their lake house in Montezuma and wintering in South Padre Island, TX.
Candi died peacefully in her home on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 69 and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; son, Brian (Barb) Tigges; stepchildren, Scott (Dee) Daugherty, Jack (Meghan) Daugherty, and Dustin (Amanda) Daugherty; daughter-in-law, Laurie Tigges; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchild; siblings, Pam (Randy) Jensen, Teri (Dave) Hartwig, Jackie Beam (special friend Don), and Bobby (Traci) Shives; brother-in-law, Barry (Sue) Bergamo; sister-in-law, Lynne Shives, and many nieces and nephews.
Candi was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mike; step-daughter, Stacie; sister, Sharlene Bergamo; and brother, Chuck Shives.
Memorial service for Candi will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Adel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice in Candi’s name. Burial will be at a later date.
