Carl E. Mercer

Carl E. Mercer, 68, of Winterset died Monday, August 12, 2013 at his home. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m., Friday, August 16, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m., prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at a later date. Carl Eugene Mercer was born in Winterset, Iowa on January 29, 1945, the son of Glen and Mary (Sowder) Mercer. Carl was very independent and spent most of his working career as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, watching television, and caring for his cats. Survivors include a sister, Lillian Williams of Indianola and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merle Mercer.
