Carol Frances Biel Droste, 64, of Rosemount, passed away suddenly on April 1st, Easter Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa with her family beside her. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Frances Biel and nephew Tony McLaughlin. Carol is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mayor William; her children, Franny & Jeremy Medeiros, Elizabeth & Michael Simpson, and William & Adrienne Droste II; brothers, Donald & Mary Ann Bartz and Thomas and Margie Bartz, and sister Julie Bartz; grandchildren, Larsen Medeiros and Elsie Simpson. Carol will also be dearly missed by brother and sister in-laws, several nieces, nephews, and friends. Carol was born in Charles City, Iowa to Harold and Frances Biel on September 5th, 1953. She went to Charles City High School. She married William Droste on May 19th, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa. She earned an associates degree from North Iowa Area Community College. She started her professional career working for Governor Terry Branstad as his events coordinator and Administrative Assistant for the First Lady Chris Branstad. What she was most proud of was her involvement in the Iowa Games where she was the Founder and Executive Director kicking off the largest state games in the nation in their inaugural year. Above all, the most important thing to Carol was her family and her beloved boxers (Oliver & Gracie). Carol spent her early years mastering the violin. She was tremendously kind and compassionate to anyone in need. She was an expert seamstress and frequently spent her time using her creative talents making unique one of a kind personal gifts for friends and family. Carol was gifted writer with an amazing ability to translate emotions and feelings into words, especially in the most difficult of times. She will always be remembered for love of music, smile on her face, her compassionate and loving heart to anyone she touched. Visitation will be on April 6th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7th at at 11 a.m. at Easter Lutheran Church, 4200 Pilot Knob Rd, Eagan MN, 55122. A luncheon will follow the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Animal Rescue League.
