Carole Ellen O'Hare

Carole Ellen O'Hare, daughter of George F. Folks and Ellen Lu Mills Folks, was born November 4, 1938 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. After graduating from high school she went on to Ellsworth Community College. Carole and William Thomas O'Hare "Bill" were united in marriage in June of 1959. The couple was blessed with two daughters Becky and Paula. Carole was a teacher in Radcliffe for a year before moving to Perry. She became a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Regina Guild. Carole had a passion for teaching so she decided to go back to college at Drake University to get her Bachelors degree in Education. Then Mrs. O got her dream job at St. Patrick's Elementary School. She loved being a teacher. After 35 years she retired from being a schoolteacher. Carole enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, and many other crafts. She adored her grandchildren more than anything and would always be there for their ball games and other activities. Carole liked playing card games and dominoes with her family and friends. She even made shirts for her family with dominoes on them. Carole died January 4, 2023 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Ellen Folks, husband William "Bill" in 2020, brother Gayle Folks and his wife Nancy, and brother-in-law Dean Robinson. Carole is survived by her two daughters: Becky Schoenrock (Jim) of Ames and Paula O'Hare (Mark Miller) of Woodward; six grandchildren: Kristen Rudolph (Shane) of Des Moines, Abbie Scott (Dee) of Woodbury, MN, Justin Schoenrock (Charlesee) of Urbandale, Bre Schoenrock of Ames, Trevor Schoenrock of Ames and Madison Miller of Ankeny; one great grandchild Elijah Scott; sister Ruth Robinson of Marion, sister-in-law Rosemary Olsen of Alden, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation was held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Family greeting hours were from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry with burial at Violet Hill Cemetery.
