Charles Carl Shivvers

Charles Carl Shivvers V “Charlie”, age 28, passed away at his home on August 16, 2016 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the husband of Magdalena Trendafilova Dimitrova Shivvers “Maggie” from Bulgaria. Love for the two began 11 years ago and they shared their marriage together for 3 years. Born in Corydon, Iowa, he was the son of Carl C. Shivvers “CC” and Karey Black Shivvers. An accomplished scholar, he completed high school in Chariton, earned degrees from Indian Hills and Iowa State. Charlie also completed class work toward achieving his Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Drake University. Charlie was a music dynamite! His passion in life was music only second to his wife Maggie. He was known in the community for actively supporting local artists, the promotion of creative music and a leader of many bands. He was a member of the Central Iowa Blues Society. His latest attestation to music was fundraising and presenting with Rock in Prevention. He was also an active member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) where he found fellowship with many friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed many hobbies including music of all genres, his Bangel cat “Django”, reading, body building, motorcycles, and spending time with friends and family. There are so many fond memories that we all will cherish forever of Charlie and his ornery nature and his witty reaction to everything. Charlie met and married the love of his life while attending Indian Hills Community College. Once they began dating it was “Charlie and Maggie”. They quickly became inseparable and shared a rare and bond. Among many adventures, Charlie and Maggie often traveled abroad to visit Maggie’s family in Bulgaria. He is survived by his wife - Maggie Shivvers, father - Carl C. Shivvers “CC” and fiancé Kay Kemp, mother - Karey Black, brother - Dustin Shivvers and fiancé Lexxi Manassa, sister - Ashley Black, grandfather - Carl Shivvers, grandmother - Laura Shivvers, aunt - Ann VanDenTop, uncle - Brian VanDenTop, cousin - Justin VanDenTop, cousin - Andrew VanDenTop, uncle - Lee Black, uncle - David Black, aunt - Dawn Harmon, father-in-law -Trendafil Dimitrove, mother-in-law - Maria Dimitrove and brother - Dimiter Dimitrove. He was preceded in death by great grandparents - Charles and Anita Shivvers and Leo and Darlene Klages, grandfather - Gary Black, in conjunction with many other beloved great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
