Charles (Charlie) Beech

Charles (Charlie) Beech, 94, of Adel, passed away July 5th at Spurgeon Manor, in Dallas Center. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10th at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. Charlie’s family will hold a private family burial prior to his Celebration of Life. Charlie was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 29, 1927, to Charles S. and Lucille (Duvall) Beech. He moved to Golden, Colorado at the age of 3, and attended grade and high school at Golden. He served in the United States Navy, from January 1945-1947, as a Pharmacist Mate. He was stationed at the Banana River Naval Air Station, Florida. He transferred to the USS Grand Canyon, then to the USS Douglas H. Fox, DD779, which served in the France and Italy areas. After returning from the Navy, Charlie attended the University of Denver; was a Driver’s License Examiner for the State of Colorado Revenue Department; and from 1955 to 1989, Charlie worked for United Air Lines in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Station Agent, and then in Denver, Colorado – Maintenance Department, with computers and as a Supervisor, retiring in 1989. In 1967, Charlie married Mary in Denver, where they worked and lived for over 30 years. In retirement, they enjoyed golf and cruising; spending time with families and friends in several states; spent several winters in The Villages, Florida; and spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, where Charlie’s daughter and grandchildren lived. Charlie’s hobbies were model trains and planes. In 2004, Charlie and Mary moved to Adel. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Debbie Kay Broderick; granddaughter, Kaylee; grandson, Rodney, Jr.; great grandson, Rodney, III; step-brother, Mike Breech (Mary Ann); nephews, Bob and Tom of Colorado; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends throughout several states. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be directed to Spurgeon Manor, St. Croix Hospice or Meals on Wheels. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com
