Charles Deets Sr

Charles E. Deets, Sr., was born February 23, 1929, the son of Homer R. and Edna A. (Evison) Deets in Earlham, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa. He was 83 years old. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Ochiltree Funeral Home in Winterset. Charles spent most of his lifetime in the Winterset area. On July 7, 1958, he was united in marriage with Evelyn R. Oglesbee. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Charles was a farmer, mechanic, an apple orchard employee and a manufacturing laborer. He also operated his own sanitation business and was on the Lorimor Police Department and was Sherriff of Union County. In his spare time, he enjoyed his family, woodworking, country western music and watching movies, especially the old westerns. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; and six children; Diane (Howard) Robison of Decatur, Georgia, Linda (Gary) Howell of Des Moines, Iowa, Sandra (Marty) Kephart of Harrison, Arkansas, Charles Deets, Jr., of Glenwood, Iowa, Chris Deets of Winterset, Iowa, and Gary (Traci) Deets of Casey, Iowa; two sisters, Amy Wright of Nevada, and Mary Bowers of Vale, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Hazel Olgesbee, and a son, Robert Deets.
