Charles Donald Hunsicker

Charles Donald “Don” Hunsicker, 88, of Des Moines, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral service for Don will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home with a visitation being held one hour prior beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Urbandale Baptist Church.

Don was born on January 26, 1935 to Charles and Ruby (Elmore) Hunsicker in Eagleville, MO. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1953. On July 27, 1957 he married Judith Louise North in Des Moines, IA. He served in the United States Army for two years and was stationed in Germany. For many years, Don worked as a delivery driver for Des Moines Clean Towel, later named ARA Services.

Don enjoyed watching any kind of ball game on television. He liked to keep his yard and home clean and well maintained. Don’s main hobby was woodworking. He made many planters, shelves and even chairs and outdoor furniture.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Eldon Hunsicker, Tracey (Loren) Wobig, and Kirk Hunsicker; 3 grandchildren, Jamie, Kendall, and Kaylee; and 2 great grandchildren, Madison and Tara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby; and his sister, Ila Phillips.
