Charles E. Whitehead

Charles E. Whitehead was the son of Charles H. and Edith (Jones) Whitehead and was born April 3, 1920 on a farm near Murray, Iowa. He was a 1937 graduate of Lorimor High School. On May 23, 1942 he married Isabelle Eischen. Charles was a farmer his whole life near Lorimor until retiring in 1984. Survivors include his son Dennis Whitehead and wife Phyllis of Williamsburg; two granddaughters, Kimberly Whitehead and her fiancé Cleo Battle of Richmond, VA; and Nicole Gillette, her husband Jason and daughter Sarah Elizabeth of Brookfield, WI; a sister Gladys Whitehead of Lorimor; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Isabelle Whitehead; granddaughter, Kristen Michelle Whitehead; a brother; and two sisters. Charles was a life-long member of the Lorimor Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Lorimor Lions Club and, along with his wife, the Lorimor Dramatic Club. He loved playing softball and was a pitcher for the Lorimor town team. Charles also enjoyed playing cards and dominos, fishing, woodworking and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Charles died at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, Iowa on May 24, 2008. He was 88. Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Lorimor or the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Building Fund in Williamsburg.
