Charles Henry Balentine Jr., 47, died of stroke complications on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 around 7 a.m. in Mercy Hospital located in Des Moines, Iowa. Charles is survived by his two daughters Jayde, who is attending college in Maryville, Missouri; Chelsi, who is attending college in Omaha, Nebraska, their mother, Lorri of Omaha, Nebraska; his brother Norman, wife Andrenna, their children Zachary and Zahriah of St. Louis, Missouri; and dear friend Sarah Brown of Des Moines, Iowa. He is preceded in death by mother, Norma Jean and father, Charles of St. Louis, Missouri. Charles was born on January 12, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Norma Jean and Charles Henry. He graduated from Hazelwood East in St. Louis, Missouri in 1986 and attended college at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where he studied government and business administration. Charles spent several years working as a restaurant manager around the Midwest area and later worked in insurance. Charles valued family and was a loving father. He married Lorri Balentine in 1995 and the couple had two daughters together. Charles was an outgoing, social, and devoted friend to everyone he met. He was deeply involved in sports as a young man and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed cooking, watching sports, listening to and mixing music, and thrived on the companionship of those he held close to him. His family and friends will always remember him as a person of encouragement and genuine friendship. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, at Lifehouse Community Church at 3201 99th St., Urbandale, Iowa, 50322, at 2 p.m. with a potluck reception to follow. Pastor Brian Stanley will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charless life. The family would like to thank Lifehouse Community Church for their services.
