Charles R. Landreth, 83, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at his home in Afton, IA. He is survived by three daughters, Sue Duffe and husband, Larry, of Wilton, IA; Clara Edwards and husband, John W., of Lorimor, IA, Tammy Landreth and fiancé Kelly Simmerman, of Murray, IA; three sons, Hubert Spyres and wife, Christi, of Lawrenceville, GA; Bill Spyres and wife, Delores, of Ozark, AR; Mike Landreth and wife, Becky, of Plattsburg, MO; a sister-in-law, Doris Landreth of Afton, IA; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda on November 14, 2003; a son, Larry Landreth; a grandson, Charles Marts; Mercedes Pickett, a great-granddaughter and two brothers, Milo (Margaret) Landreth and Frank Landreth. Charles was born April 17, 1923 in Thayer, IA, the son of Finn and Lizzie (Fouser) Landreth. His marriage to Wanda Summerlin took place on March 14, 1959 in Las Vegas, NV. He spent most of his working career as a start-up engineer for electrical power plants. His work took him and his family to various places around the world. He attended the Spring Valley Church, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing, traveling and cooking. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. June 27, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
