Charles Wayne Allen passed away on February 6, 2020 at 94 years of age. He was born to Charles Wesley Allen and Anna Beatrice Hildebrand Allen on August 24, 1925 at home near Winterset, Iowa. He graduated from Winterset High School in the class of 1943 and joined the United States Army in 1944 during World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. He attended Southern University business college and graduated from A.I.B. prior to his employment with the Iowa State Department of Revenue as a field auditor and later as Administrator for the sales and use tax division in Des Moines. He retired from the State Department after 39 years of service and became a fulltime farmer until around the age of 91. Charles was united in marriage to Jo Ann Harpole in 1948. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Patterson, Iowa, a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Easter Star, a lifetime member of the Madison County Historical Society, as well as the V.F.W. of Winterset. He served a term as 4-H Club leader also. Charles is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; 3 sons, Danny J. (Sonia) of Winterset, Randall C. (Paula) of Urbandale, and Nathan W. (Dorothy) of Winterset; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa Heart Center Foundation and the Madison County Historical Society. Services are pending at this time. Arrangements are being planned for March.
