Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery, Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the American Legion Post #184 and VFW Post #8142 Auxiliaries both of Winterset. Charlotte Louise Sandy was born June 16, 1922 in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob A. and Fannie (Kegley) Sandy. Charlotte attended school in Winterset and graduated in the class of 1940. Later she attended Drake University in Des Moines and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Her marriage to George William “Bill” Paull took place on December 5, 1942. Charlotte was a member of the Madison County Historical Association and a charter member of local club, Thursday Guild. She was also a member of the local VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. Charlotte loved nature and traveling. She especially loved “God’s artwork” of the southwest. Charlotte died January 23, 2012 at the Winterset Care Center South. She was 89. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bill Paull of Winterset; her three children, Charlotte Ann (Bob) Davis of La Quinta, CA, George W. (Debra) Paull, Jr. of Wellston, OK and Barbara (Don) Griswold of Washington. She is also survived by five grandchildren (Michael and James Kochel; John Paull; Emily Leet and Michael Griswold); ten great grandchildren (Giorgie, Mack and Shealee Paull; Stephanie Kochel, Zach Kochel; Trevor and Brandon Kochel; Gibson and Benjamin Leet and Michael Griswold, Jr.) and two step great grandchildren (Taylor and Rylan). She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings, Ralph, Russell and Vava Sandy and Zola Lowden.
