Charlotte Zimmerman-Grant

Charlotte Zimmerman-Grant of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Wesley Acres on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the age of 83. Charlotte was born on March 30, 1937 to Charles and Goldie (Zimmerman) O’Brien in Chicago, Illinois. After raising her daughters, Charlotte continued her education and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She pursued a career in Psychiatric Social Work for many years. Charlotte enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling the world, and following the Chicago Cubs. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Stephen Riggio. Together they filled 40 loving and caring years of marriage with many wonderful memories. Charlotte is also survived by her two daughters Catherine (Ron) Johnson of Bradenton, Florida, and Caryn (Keith) Maychszak of McHenry, Illinois; Catherine’s daughter, Heather (Nick) Dunham and her two sons Toby and Tanner Dunham live in Sulphur, Louisiana, where Heather and Nick serve in the U.S. Coast Guard; Caryn’s three daughters: Tiffany (Richard) Ostrowski and her children Everly and Beckett Ostrowski; Holly (Ryan) Felten; and Brittany (Jeremiah) Johnson and their children Peyton and Jacob Johnson who all live in metropolitan Chicago, Illinois. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was proud of her family. The family will gather for a “celebration of life” and interment at a future date.
