Cheyenne Lea Miller

Cheyenne Lea Miller, 24, of Peru, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cheyenne was born on August 24, 2000, in Des Moines, Iowa to Erik and Rachel (Garrett) Miller. She attended Winterset Community Schools and East Union Community School. She graduated from East Union High School in 2020. Cheyenne loved to play sports, ride horses, crochet, and make bead jewelry. She enjoyed being around her family and friends, talking and playing cards. She never knew a stranger and was never at a loss for words. She was a kindhearted loving soul. She loved to read and loved school. She always wanted to be a special education teacher, but that dream was cut short when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She fought for 13 years before she lost her fight.

Cheyenne was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal great grandparents; grandpas, Gary Garrett and Merril Spellerberg; and grandma, Terri Mikkelson.

She is survived by her parents, Erik and Rachel; brother, Wyatt; sister-in-law, Shai; nieces, Brynnlea and Evelynn; grandparents, Carl and Mary Miller, Cindy Porter, and Deana Garrett; aunts, Lara Garrett, Chelle TenHaken, Angela Garrett-Holtry, Tiffany Schulte, Lara Edwards, Amanda Williams, Meghan Miller, and Teresa Wickham; uncles, Nathan Miller, Brad Wickham, Rich Edwards, Todd Williams, Michael TenHaken, and Derek Schulte; and a host of other family members and loved ones.

A visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date with inurnment at the Peru Cemetery.
