Chris Harrison

Chris was born December 23, 1961 in Des Moines, the son of Clair and Patricia (Jenkins) Harrison. He grew up in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School in 1980. Chris' marriage to Barbara Wambsgans took place on June 3, 1982 in Winterset at the Madison County Court House. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Harvey Harrison. During his working career Chris worked as a security guard and most recently had provided security work for NPI (Neighborhood Patrol Inc.) based in Des Moines. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, step-father and thought the world of his grandchildren. Chris is survived by his wife, Barbara of Winterset; his mother, Pat Harrison of Winterset; a step-daughter, Tammy Mead and husband, Steve of Winterset; two step-sons, Rodney Welsher and wife, Cindy of Des Moines; Joel Welsher and wife, Teresa of Boone; a brother, Juan Harrison and wife, Jamie of DeSoto; two half brothers, Bill Harrison and wife, Virginia and Don Harrison; nine grandchildren (Kathleen, Jeanell, Jasmine, Mitchell, Peter, Jack, Anna, Daniel and Laura). Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. March 16, 2001 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2001 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa. Memorial: Memorials in Chris' name may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
