Claire Cathleen Kelly

Claire Cathleen Kelly passed away early in the morning on November 14, 2023. Her bright eyes and determined attitude brought joy to all her family and friends. Claire was born on August 6, 2013 to Jeffrey Kelly and Sara Kelly in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Crocker Elementary School in Ankeny. Claire fought a courageous battle against cerebral palsy, a condition that never defined her spirit but rather showcased her incredible strength. Despite the physical limitations imposed by her condition, she remained a beacon of joy, teaching all who knew her the true meaning of perseverance and love.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Jeff Kelly and Sara Kelly (Ankeny). Her grandparents, Chuck and Julie Hall (Ankeny) and her many aunts, uncles and cousins. Karen and Mike Sankey (Algona), Connie Kelly (Ankeny), Tim and Ranae Kelly (Stephens Point, WI), Mike Kelly (Ankeny), Pat and Lisa Kelly (Topeka, KS), Steve and DeAnna Kelly (Britt), Kristie and Nate Smith (Ankeny), Mark and Morgan Kelly (Ankeny) and Rachel Hall (Ankeny). She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Marlys Kelly (Britt).

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20th from 4:30-7:30 p.m. with a Rosary Service beginning at 4:15 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Urbandale, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 21st at 10:30 a.m at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Urbandale, IA. Burial will be held at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Blank Children’s Hospital and Childserve.

The family would like to thank everyone at ChildServe and Blank Children’s Hospital’s ED, NICU, PICU (especially Dr. Mina Salib) and Pediatric Respiratory Therapy department (Shawna, Ge, Georgia, Chris, Jamie) for their unwavering support and dedication to Claire’s care. The staff consistently went above and beyond, ensuring Claire received not only the necessary medical attention but also the warmth and love that made her feel truly special. Each and every nurse that took care of Claire holds a special place in our hearts.
