Clara Veronica Bell

April 26, 1922 — November 8, 2006

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Bell; a daughter, Catherine M. Noga; a son-in-law, Marvin Eldred and five brothers, Joseph, John, Paul ‘Pete’, Edward and Cyril Harkin. Clara Veronica Bell was born April 26, 1922, in Churchville, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Waldron) Harkin. Her marriage to Joseph Bell took place on October 19, 1944 at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Cumming. She was a homemaker her entire life, during which she raised nine children. Veronica was also an avid quilter, quilting over 200 quilts in her lifetime. Veronica was a member of the Church of the Assumption and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include her children, Therese Eldred of Grimes; Lucille White (David) of Grimes; Loretta Foley (Raymond) of Winterset; Barbara Shutt (James) of Grimes; Joseph Bell (Mary) of Cascade; Patrick Bell (Sharon) of St. Charles; Robert Bell (Becky) of St. Charles; Thomas Bell (Lorretta) of Norwalk; a son-in-law, Thomas Noga of Erie, IL; her brother, James Harkin (Ella) of West Des Moines; her sisters, Martina Carroll and Honora Kirvin of Des Moines; twenty-two grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday November 12, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa. A Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. with a Rosary following. Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday November 13, 2006 at The Church of the Assumption, Churchville, Iowa Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the Church of the Assumption.
