Hastings Funeral Home was in charge of service for Clarence (Jupe) Stewart. A visitation and Rosary Vigil Services were held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with Father Paul Nguyen of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Perry officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial for Clarence "Jupe" Stewart was held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, Iowa. Officiating was Father Paul Nguyen, Lector Kevin Heisler. Musicians were Kathy Wade and Cecilia Stout. Ushers were Aaron Heisler and Angela Bru. Jope's casket bearers were: Ron Stewart, Kevin Heisler, Adam Stout, Merrill Bancroft, Andy Stewart and Jeremy Norris. Lector was Kevin Heisler and Ushers were Aaron Heisler and Angela Bru, with Military Rites by the Iowa Army National Honor Guard, Johnston, Iowa, American Legion Post #85 and VFW Post 2060, Perry interment took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Clarence "Jupe" Stewart, 84 years, 7 months, 10 days died peacefully on July 21, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 12, 1928 in Berkley, IA to Clarence Stewart and Legora Garland. Jupe graduated from the Rippey High School in 1947 and shortly after that enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He lived in Perry for most of his adult life and worked for the City of Perry street department until his retirement, after which he could be seen on both sides of the bar at Mike's Pub. He enjoyed participating in bowling and dart leagues and dancing at Lake Robbins Ballroom. In his earlier years Jupe also coached Little League. He was a member of the American Legion and former Moose Lodge. He is survived by his sister Nadine Wilson of Tucson, AZ; sisters-in-law Doris Stewart of Boone and Marilyn Stewart of Perry; nieces Jan Norris (Dan), Cindy Bancroft (Merrill) , Sherri Elliott, and Kim Schoenthal (Dan); nephews Joe Wilson (Lis), Kevin Heisler (Nancy), Ron Stewart (Joelee), and Jerry Wilson (Susan); and very special friends Karen Wicks and Adam Stout. He has many great and great-great nieces and nephews also. He joins his parents; brothers Dale and Charles Stewart; sister Madonna Heisler; nephew Jim Stewart; nieces Gigi Kean and Kristi Murphy; and very special ladies Helen Peterson and Charlene Hanlon.
