Clarence Bruder passed away September 14, 2017 at the V.A. hospice in Des Moines. A Mass and memorial service will be held at St. Pius X in Urbandale, Iowa, 11 a.m., October 27, 2017; visitation will begin one hour before service with interment at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Clarence was born September 13, 1925 at the family farm in Todd County, Minnesota. The Army infantry veteran served in Germany during World War II. A graduate of Minneapolis Business College with an aptitude for numbers and computers led to a long career with Greyhound Bus Lines as Director of Information Systems before retiring in 1989. His favorite past-time was working with his hands and he volunteered his expertise and skills on home improvement projects, especially for his children. In his spare time he also enjoyed extensive travel. Clarence is survived by his wife Marjorie Bruder (nee Hoag of 67 years whom he married in Minneapolis, October 13, 1949) of Windsor Hts.; brothers Arnold (Jeanette) of Long Prairie, MN; Warren (Oliva) of Indianapolis, IN; children Allen (Heather Kerr) of Louisville, CO; Susan of Marion, OH; Thomas of Windsor Hts.; Carol Hemphill (Todd) of Urbandale; grandchildren John (Anna), Steven, Carson Hemphill, Lindsay Hemphill; 2 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Regina Bruder (nee Thill); sister Irene Reznechek; brothers Clyde, Ivan; great-grandson Austin and in-laws. The family would like to thank the staff at Kavanagh House, the V.A. Hospice and all others providing comfort and care.
