Clarence Wildin

August 27, 1915 — April 23, 2008

Clarence Wildin was born August 27, 1915 in Madison County, Iowa, the son of Irvin and Jennie (Stevens) Wildin. He graduated from Patterson High School in 1932 and served in the United States Army during World War II. His marriage to Miriam Margaret Poland took place on February 21, 1941 in Grant City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1990. Clarence is survived by his children, Vin Wildin (Kathy) of Winterset; Greg Wildin (Jolene) of Bridgewater; Terri Warren (Larry) of Indianola; and Randal Wildin (Joyce) of St. Charles; a special friend, Margaret Spick of Wick; a brother, Darrel Wildin (Shirley) of Winterset; 14 grandchildren (Alan, J.D., Tracy, Kurt, Trisha, Ryan, Tamara, Regina, Ken, Holly, Sherry, Cathi, Carmen, and Jo Ann); 12 great grandchildren (Brad, Kelsey, Jayden, Ali, Lia, Graysen, Cayten, Ryker, Alec, Cale, Olivia, and Danika) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Miriam; two brothers, Ed and Lew Wildin; and five sisters, Irma Harpole, Verna Klein, Zelda Buck, Gertie Hudson, and Phyllis Pace. Clarence was a farmer and a life long area resident of Madison County. He was a member of the St. Charles Parish, the St. Charles Lions Club and Farm Bureau. He was also a 4-H Leader for the Lee Leaders and was a member of the Rolling Wheels Camping Club of St. Charles. Clarence loved bowling and was competitive until December 2007. He was very handy and a good carpenter. He also enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler around the farm which he did up until last fall. Clarence died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. He was 92. Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa. Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008 at St. Charles Parish in St. Charles, Iowa. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.
