Claude O. Daniels, 76, of St. Charles died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at his home. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Ochiltree Funeral Service. Funeral services will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery. The family invites attendees to drive their classic cars. Memorials may be directed to the St. Charles Old Settlers Car Show. Online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com. Claude Owen Daniels, son of Jack Daniels and Jessie “Bernice” (Day) Gates, was born March 14, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended school in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High in the Class of 1960. Claude married Barbara Orr on April 20, 1963, at the Center Chapel Methodist Church. Claude worked for Cornbelt Aluminum for a number of years. He later worked at Delevan (now UTC Aerospace Systems) as a machinist for most of his working career. He enjoyed playing cards, Cribbage and Texas Hold’em being his favorites. Claude and Barb enjoyed going to tag sales together. He loved spending time in his garage, “Claude’s Place”, and tinkering on his vehicles. Claude also enjoyed playing pool in his shop and hanging out with the “Good Guys”. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who loved nothing more than spending time with the ones he loved. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barb Daniels of St. Charles; children, Jeff Daniels, Mike Daniels and Darci (Matt) Gibbons all of St. Charles; siblings, Jack Daniels of St. Charles, Larry (Sandy) Daniels of Windsor Heights, Julie Daniels (Kay Kline) of St. Charles, Joyce Daniels (Tom Laughnan) of Iowa City, Art (Linda) Daniels of New Virginia, and Ed (Peggy) Daniels of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Tim Daniels, Levi (Shelby) Daniels, Claire Gibbons and Kassie Gibbons; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Claude was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Bea Gracey.
