He was born on March 27, 1937 to Glen and Agnes Beal in Eureka, Kansas. He was the second of four sons. Although he was named after his grandfather, he was known as Tyson or just Ty to his friends. Ty grew up in Greenwood County in Kansas and graduated from high school at Hamilton, Kansas. After high school, he attended Emporia State College in Emporia, Kansas but interrupted his education when he joined the Air Force in 1956. Six months after he joined the service, he married his high school girlfriend, Juanita “Nita” Hanson. After his discharge in 1959, he returned home and continued his education. In 1963, the Lord blessed Tyson with a daughter, Kristen Susann which would be a main part in the center of his life. After college, he went to work for Hallmark Cards and was transferred to Des Moines, Iowa in 1964. “On the road life” was not for Ty so he went into service station management in Urbandale. Ty was a good man and great father who loved his family. He loved football, but especially baseball. He preferred to listen to baseball on the radio and would spend hours in the summer on the deck listening to this beloved sport. Despite his health, one never heard him complain. He always was in good spirits and was thankful to his Lord for his life. He was a big teacher and loved to joke. He is survived by his daughter Kristen (Rich); grandchildren Ben and Baily; brother Gary (Debbie); sister-in-law Kathy; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nita; mother and father; and brothers David and Robert. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A graveside service will follow at Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Heart Association.
