Clifford John Glasgow, 92, of Storm Lake, IA, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Born on September 22, 1926 in Keokuk, IA, he was the son of Foley Robert and Josephine May Cochnour Glasgow. On October 5, 1957, he married Janet Jean Hendricks in Des Moines. Clifford graduated from Selma Consolidated High School and Parson’s College in Fairfield. He proudly served as a US Army Supply Sergeant in Saipan and Guam during World War II. Clifford was self-employed in the construction trade and sided many houses and businesses throughout the Midwest. In high school, he drove a horse drawn carriage “school bus” route on the dirt roads along the Des Moines river. He played baseball for Parson’s College, coached his sons’ baseball teams, and was president of the Greater Des Moines Soap Box Derby for many years. He traveled around the US with the Derby team winning a number of regional and national titles. Clifford was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, served on the Church Properties committee, and was active in the Buena Vista County Historical Society for many years. Surviving Clifford are his beloved wife, Janet, and their five children: Robert (Julene), Michael (Angela), Janelle Riche (Rod), Debbie Brown, and Mark; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Sydney and Sadie Glasgow, Shonda Geissinger, Holly Glasgow, April Brown, Nicole and Shenoa Glasgow, and Jack and Samuel Glasgow; three great grandchildren; and his brother, Thomas, of Ft. Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Vera Van Zante, Ralph, and Carol Richards.
